Mrs. Stephens Contributes to GUIDE
Melanie Stephens, Sloan-Hendrix Gifted and Talented Teacher and Coordinator, was recognized by the Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education for her contributions to the G.U.I.D.E. for Life Curriculum Development Team. Susan Jobe, G.U.I.D.E. for Life Specialist wrote the following: "As a participant on the G.U.I.D.E. for Life Curriculum Development Team, Melanie Stephens attended two sessions of curriculum planning on July 29 and 30, 2020. During the sessions, team members wrote and developed innovative lesson plans and assessments on the personal competency skills of EMPATHY: Be Aware of Others. These lessons will be published on the G.U.I.D.E. for Life page on the website for the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education. This work will be shared with educators throughout the state, and will serve as a model for the nation. I am very appreciative of the time, effort, and energy that this team of Arkansas educators willingly gave in order to serve their fellow educators and all Arkansas students. Your teacher is to be commended for the quality work they have produced and for being selected to serve on this inaugural team."
